Your data stays with you
Rppl collects data only locally, on your Apple Watch and iPhone. There is no Rppl server and no account. Your sessions are never sent to us.
Because we never receive your data, we cannot process, sell, or share it, use it for advertising, or build a profile of you. And we would not want to.
Crash reports & analytics. If "Share With App Developers" is on in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple sends us anonymous crash reports and usage metrics. This is an Apple setting: we have no influence over it and cannot link that data to you.
TestFlight. If you test a beta through TestFlight, Apple does show us:
- Your name and email address (when you were invited by email)
- Which builds you installed, when, and how often you opened them
- Crash reports, including device model and iOS / watchOS version
- Feedback and screenshots you send through TestFlight, with device details (model, OS version, battery level, free storage, network type, time zone)
Website. The Rppl website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or third-party services. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which, like any web host, may log technical request data such as your IP address. We do not receive or use it.
A note from the developer
Hi! Mijn naam is Duco.

English
Hi! My name is Duco. Since this year I’ve often been at a cable park to wakeboard. The regular Apple Workout app is unfortunately too basic, so I went looking for a better tracker. The current offering unfortunately didn't meet my expectations; too complex or too limited, mandatory subscriptions and a hunger for requesting data. That had to be different.
My professional background is in embedded software, so making an iOS app is new. Although I like to dig into the code myself, this app was created almost entirely with the help of AI. After several test sessions I dare to make this app public, in the hope that others get something out of it!
I hope that, like me, you enjoy tracking your sessions!

About Rppl
Rppl is a hobby project by Duco Sebel (the Netherlands). Using it is entirely your choice. This document covers both the terms of use and privacy.
The source code is licensed separately under LICENSE (PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0: noncommercial use only).
How does Rppl earn money?
It doesn't. Rppl exists because the alternatives I found all cost money or are hungry for data. There are no ads, no subscription, and no selling of data.
We might add paid features or donations in the future, but only to cover costs (like Apple fees) and keep the app awesome for riders. Existing features stay free for as long as that is feasible.
What the app collects
Only to record and show your cable-park sessions:
- GPS location (routes, speed, set detection), with precise coordinates
- Accelerometer and gyroscope (device motion)
- Heart rate and energy, through Apple Health when you allow it
- Set / inactive detections derived from the sensors above
- Water temperature, when available (Apple Watch Ultra)
- A random install ID created on first launch (not a name or account; reinstalling creates a new one)
Again: none of this is sent to us, sold, or used for advertising.
Where it is stored: on your Watch and iPhone, in Apple Health (when allowed), in your iCloud Drive when logbook sync is on (default on; turn it off in Rppl → Data), and in your iCloud backup if you use one. Watch and iPhone exchange data directly through Apple Watch Connectivity.
Legal basis (GDPR): your consent, given through the iOS and watchOS permission prompts.
Outside services
Some features request data from outside services. None of them receive your sessions.
- Apple WeatherKit: your current location, to get weather and water temperature for your session. The Parks tab sends a park's location (not yours) to show its current temperature and wind.
- Apple Maps: route maps, park maps, and directions to a park.
- Rijkswaterstaat (opt-in, off by default): for Dutch parks, the app asks the public Rijkswaterstaat water data service for the latest temperature at the measuring station nearest to the park. Only that station's code is sent, never your location. Turn it on or off in Rppl → Settings (Park water temperature).
- Vlaamse Waterweg and VMM (Flanders) (opt-in, off by default, same setting): for Belgian parks, the app asks the public Flemish water data services (waterinfo.be, run by the Vlaamse Waterweg and the Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij) for the latest water temperature at the measuring station nearest to the park. Only that station's time-series ID is sent, never your location.
Before adding any new third-party service that handles your data, we will ask your permission.
Export & sharing
You can export a session's raw, unfiltered data (everything listed under What the app collects, plus derived stats) for analysis. Nothing leaves your device unless you share it yourself, through Share, AirDrop, Files, email, or another channel you choose. You decide who receives it and are responsible for that share.
We may ask for an export when stats look wrong. Sending one is always your choice.
Age
Rppl can be used at any age. If you are under the digital age of consent in your country (16 in the Netherlands), ask a parent or guardian before granting Health and Location access.
Safety & liability
Wakeboarding can be dangerous. Never let data from Rppl push you into unsafe choices. You are responsible for your own safety, judgment, and gear, including your Watch on the water.
Rppl is provided as-is, without warranties. We are not liable for injuries, damage, or lost data from using it, except where EU law does not allow excluding liability (gross negligence or intent).
Park info in the Parks tab is collected by hand from public sources and may be outdated or wrong. Always check with the park before you travel or book.
Changes & costs
We may change, pause, or stop the app at any time. We may add paid features or ask for donations to cover costs such as Apple fees; we do not plan to make existing features paid. Material changes to these terms are announced in the App Store release notes or in the app. Continuing to use Rppl means you accept them.
Law & your rights
Dutch law applies, and EU law where relevant (including the GDPR).
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, and object to processing of your data. Since your data lives only on your devices, you exercise these rights yourself: through device settings, Health permissions, or by deleting sessions or the app. Need help? Get in touch.
